Without this fundraising event and our participation for the past few years our church would not have received the magnificent grant of £22,500 towards the roof appeal. It raises over £130,000 a year for the Friends of Kent Churches which makes grants for repairs to historic churches and now we have received an unusually large grant from it we ought to give it our support.
We need cyclists and/or walkers to visit churches between 10 am and 6pm on Saturday 13 September and raise money from sponsorship. While some people visit as many as they can it is not necessary to take it so seriously or spend all day on it. Just enjoy it – we have heard of one cyclist who gets sponsorship money for visiting only one church! Can you take part, maybe with some friends?
It is important that participants receive a welcome at the churches they visit so we need welcomers to greet them and provide some refreshment. Can you spare an hour or two?
If you think you would like more information or think you can help please contact Andrew Moffat: (01474) 822280, firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.shorneparishchurch.co.uk or www.friendsofkentchurches.co.uk.
Because of the building works in the church we will not be holding a formal open day. The church will be open between 10 am and 6 pm and anyone is welcome to visit. There will be a self-guide leaflet available. In the afternoon there will be someone there to show visitors round and light teas will be available. Please take the opportunity to visit and enjoy our lovely medieval church.
