Revd Ted Hurst, who has been chosen as the next Vicar of Shorne, will be made Vicar on the 5th January 2017 at a service in Shorne Parish Church starting at 7.30 pm. This will be attended by the Bishop of Rochester, The Rt. Rev. James Langstaff, and Archdeacon of Rochester, The Ven. Simon Burton-Jones, who will carry out the formalities of institution by the Bishop (being given spiritual oversight and care of the parish), and induction (admission into possession of the church properties) by the Archdeacon.
Parishioners will be welcome to attend the service. As is customary a large number of people from outside the parish will be invited to attend including clergy, lay readers and churchwardens in the Gravesend Rural Deanery and members of the congregation of the South Gillingham parish where Ted is currently curate. We expect, and hope, to have a full church that evening!
